Looks like you had a good time. Your blog has brought back a few memories.
We went that way in the late 70s/early 80s. (Cannot remember the exact year)
Don't know what the track to the top of the ranges is like now, but back then there was a switch-back, was very narrow and in
places there was only about 600mm at the most to the edge.
About 5 or so kays there was/is a track to the right. You go a short distance in and you come to a creek. Park the vehicle turn right and walk up the creek. There is a small waterfall that has a white calcium wash over it and very old carvings in the rocks. If you go that way again it is an interesting short detour. If you need any more info. I will try and find my old paper 250thou. maps.
